Linda Kaiser Watercolors
exhibited in February, 2007
Watercolor
"is a liquid, fluid language," according to Florence painter Linda
Kaiser. "It can be delicate and soft or bold and dramatic. Techniques
of watercolor painting are often challenging and rewarding at the same time.
To me, the process of painting is a reflection of the artist, and is as important
as the finished product."
February
was a fitting month to showcase Kaiser's artworks, a season when migrant birds
return to the Arboretum seeking native chuparosa, penstemons and other red
flowers. Birds, such as the Gambel's Quail below and flowers in glorious full
bloom are recurring themes of her work.
"My
journeys with the paintbrush have led me to a new way of looking at life around
me. Painting is my connection with the spirit of nature, where I can create
a snapshot of the living desert, animals, and nature's architecture. Nature
provides a never-ending source of inspiration. My life in the Sonoran desert
is often reflected in my paintings."
"My
greatest reward is to see the effect of my creations from another persons
perspective... I hope that the viewer and I find similar rewards on our journey;
art puts all of us in a better place."
Kaiser
is a self-taught watercolorist who has created a memorable body of work since
she began painting in 2002. "My art adventure began when I read a How
to Paint With Watercolors book that professed the simplicity of watercolor
painting. I couldnt resist attempting to create patterns, forms, and
colors that I so admired on my visits to galleries and museums -- I was hooked,"
she recalls.
Pieces in the show were
original watercolors double-matted, framed 16-by-20 inches and priced from
$125 to $200. Prints were available for purchase; for details about commissioned
works email lindakaiserart@msn.com,
